One-two-one-two-one-two-BOOM!

2 much 1 had 2 do today 2 blog! But 2 tempting a date 2 ignore. 1 that comes 1nc in a millennium.

Especially since the world is going to end on the 21st, according to the Mayan calendar, and the pushy pessimists who believe it. So this 1 is going to be about the end of the world.

A Dutchman has built an ark like Noah’s, but it has gaming arcades and restaurants and a movie theatre. Nice way to go, if you have to go.

How’d you like to greet the end of the world? Putting up a good fight? In peace with all your loved ones cuddled under the same duvet? Praying? Playing? Replaying a life well lived?

When I was small, we were just Ma, Dad and me - a tiny little unit, and I always wanted us all to die together. In a plane crash. So no one would be left to be sad, y’know. It didn’t happen that way. Dad went first, and the sadness stays every single day.

But now, I think of the end of the world, and I think of how many fantastic things I want to do. I want to write that book (done! – you guys better buy it!). I want to live each moment of my life (Doing that). It used to be important that I earn a lot of money, but it seems insignificant now.  I want to leave the world a better place (not of much use since it’s going to go up in smoke, but...) I mean I want to help people and animals and stand up for those who can’t.

Nik at not yet 6, has a simpler, if funnier, want. He’s been keen to leave behind his bone, so billions of years later, someone finds his fossil and figures out a Nikosaur lived here.

How’d you want to meet the end of the world? But hey, it’s not ending, okay? The world’s a lot tougher to end than a video game. But if there’s a one-two-one-two-one-two-boom? Just give it a think. And let me know.

  1. Now when I think of it, I have too may clothes just wrapped to be worn "sometime where they are worth it", too many new bed covers put away, crockery untouched..Phew. What are we saving all these for.

    1. So true. Me too. Sometimes a Boom thought helps re-focus on what's important, ya?

    2. Ditto here! We all have so many things put away for that future date which never comes :P Writing that, I just pulled out a crockery set and started using it.

  2. My guy seriously thinks the world is going to end on 21st. Though I don't agree but any reason is good enough to spend another day with just the two of us giggling over some good food and a nice glass of wine.

  3. Aiiiiyoooooooooo one post I am scared of replying to ......

I think for me even if 21st is the end ... it will be with family at a camp.. that weekend we are camping haha... But on a serious note yes we need to do a reality check and that's when we realise what is more important... Get rid of all these extra we tug along with us.. and the attitude to save for tomorrow when we can make today better....Live for the moment!!!!!!!! that's most important and be happy and content with what ever you have ... that itself will make you free and happy

But I also had plans like start my biz!!! ok shall wait till 22nd and most important my rum cake for X-mas .. now on second thought I better bake it before 21st :P

  4. hey you've written a book?? wow! details please..:-)
I pretty much want to do the things you've listed out, Jane..live life without worrying in case you the world is anyway going to end..if only life could be so predictable that you know everyone's going to die at once! I also have the funny fantasy of dying together so that there is no one miserable later..it is so much easier for the person to die (mostly) and so much more difficult for the rest who are alive, isn't it?

    1. Yes, Uma. It's strange though how I try to keep my blog light and funny, the important/ sad things do creep in. As for my book - releasing in Jan. Will put up the link for this group soon :)

  6. I have hardly ticked anything off my bucket-list! Life is so much complicated...before the end of the world I have to make peace with so many people, learn to dance Salsa...publish a book, direct a movie, paint a painting...OMG!! the list is too long!

End of the world with all of my family sitting together around a bonfire and some potatoes thrown in...hearing some stories from papa...that should do it. :)

I like this dying together concept too.. as my greatest fear is something happening to bobby and / or me before our girls are grown up....

But hey if there is no jan 2013, how will you and i do the 3 c's together.... chat chocolate coffee...

  8. How would I want to meet the end of the world? With a smile tugging along all my loved ones...well if we are all going together, then there is really no reason to worry. However until then we will need to worry about that daily meal and about getting all the work done at home and work :)
Would have loved to meet you and I am sure we will - if not in this world, in that other world which will probably be much more compact and easier to travel from one place to the other :)

  11. 2 good Jane!
Loved this post as it resonated with a lot of my thoughts. I always wanted to die first or die together. Me and my husband joke a lot of times saying once we are through with all that we want to do and fly over the Bermuda triangle in our little own helicopter which we might own some day ;) hahaha....I laugh at that idea myself....Isnt it the same for all of us and our loved ones we hate to lose?

  12. Is it weird that I'm oddly contented with life, and wouldn't mind the last day if it's just as good as any other day :). As long as all the family is together and hugging of course!

  13. If at all(very less chances!!!!) I die,it would be NOT to change anything in my life but to see if that GOD I do not believe in ,really exists in that other world.....to check if all that positive energy of reiki and pranic healing which I cannot comprehend actually exists...to find that book which says THIS IS RIGHT and THIS IS WRONG and to find the KARMA connection and if I do find that GOD,I'll put some sense in his head and ask him to do a bettter job of creating another world!!!

  14. The world cannot end anytime soon.. I have so much to look forward to.. Your book for one and my proposed lunch for our coffee gang at my place in early Jan, for another !! Anyways the day is supposedly coming to an end, we will be flying high above in a metal contraption !! Talk of a death wish :)

  15. I don't mind whether world ends next week or not. I will continue to live :) And so shall we all.
Who can be sure about life. Mine can end even before Dec 21. Lets live life full size till we are here :)

    1. Totally true, that! The world-ending thing was just a way to get to exactly the proposal you put across - to live life king-size!

  16. This may sound silly, but have wanted it to be since I was a kid - I want to die saving somebody or better still saving the world! Must be something to do with my comic obsession- superheros etc. But too much to ask for, I guess!
Of course, there is always the worry of who will look after my baby (if she's not grown up already). But I'm hoping that someone up there will be taking care o these things :)
