I've got less friends than you on Facebook

I just got a ‘friend invitation’ from someone I don’t know on Facebook who has 872 friends. Some collection huh? Beats my mom’s collection of old newspaper recipes since 1958.
Anyway, I’m sorry, it’s a no. I’m not a collector’s item – but I could put you onto my Ma, if you’d like.

So here’s a list of my own :

If you’re my friend, you gotta earn it, dude (And never call me that) ! Meet over a coupla coffees (and spare me the lecture on my 3 sugars), have a few earth-shattering fights (over an issue you can’t even spell when you’re sober), rush me to hospital after bad prawn curry with me puking all over the back seat of your car, sock someone in the eye because he called me a bad word (something only you can do!), let me fix you up with a blind date and threaten to kill me later.

Do 872 people actually know your deepest darkest fears, like the chicken kabab on your plate may suddenly come to life?

When I change my status line on Facebook, only those who know me will say “Jane has now changed her status to “Jane is a raving lunatic” but hey- isn’t that what she always was?”

My apologies to the 872 – or now 871er ! Put it down to a bad case of Sour Grapes, ok?
And hellooooooo there to my good many good friends on Facebook, and out of it. And a few who are almost there! But first I’ve got to find out if they’re worthy – or rather if the backseat of their car is puke-worthy !

“We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it friendship or love" keep writting jane..... also watch the dvd atleast before iam back or i swear i will......shall leave it to your imagination.

  15. Oh my God! This post really struck home but in a totally unexpected way!
Facebook terrifies me... it demands a password and I'm so freakin' fed up of dreaming up corny passwords that no one will be able to hack through, into my useless PC that confounds even me who actually has all the passwords! :P
And the saving of recipes... confession : I'm a compulsive saver of recipes, (and I hate cooking unless its some flamboyant knock-your-nose job-off kind of statement dish ). From cutting out recipes from newspapers / magazines, I've progressed to cutting and pasting from webpages. Hundreds and thousands of them. I'm convinced that if I collect enough, someday I'll magically be transformed into a Betty Crocker-cook-alike. In the meantime, the D drive of my PC is swamped with recipes for dishes I'll never cook.
Just thank your lucky stars that it isnt my prawn curry that's making you puke. Naaah... not likely, chances are that I'd order in if you're hungry.
But the car is always there... if you can put up with dog-hair and Snickers on the seat !

  16. dog-hair and chocolate wrappers on the seat? join the club. though i must confess, the closest i'll get to betty crocker is her cake-mix off the shelf.

  20. OK, now you got everyone fighting to be counted as your friend.

While you're busy with these folks, may play with the boys? All three of them?

  21. I too qualify.....you puked out of my basanti on the way to Tellicherri when leopard charged at you and a tusker chased me ;-)

  23. Great post, even I am very picky about who I befriend on FB, i just don't get it why people who just see you, or interact with you for 5 mins add you as friends and then you don't hear from them again. I used to accept invitations and last year i cleaned my FB account, down to 121 friends/acquaintances. Next clean up due in March, need to get it under 50

    1. I must admit meanwhile that my Fb list has gone up to 750 or something. No idea how. How do you clean up without offending people? :(
